Lesson overview
In this lesson you observe real cultural diversity and investigate what makes coexistence possible in a shared classroom, school and community. It begins with silent observation - no explanations, just looking - before moving into a real classroom video and four real-life case studies: a language barrier at school, a religious holiday in a shared calendar, a new student arriving from another country, and a community event mixing traditions.
Along the way you match democratic values (Respect, Tolerance, Equality, Cooperation, Solidarity) to real-life examples, analyse each case study with a structured group task, and propose your own concrete solutions.
The lesson ends with a values discovery activity, a chance to design and present your own message of respect for your school, and a closing quiz plus personal pledge - one thing you will do to respect cultural diversity, starting now.
