Lesson overview
Students investigate what a digital identity is, how digital footprints are created, and how personal data can be protected. Through realistic online situations, collaborative inquiry and reflection, they learn to make safer choices about passwords, privacy, messages, images and AI-generated advice.
In the Investigation Lab, three groups explore online safety from different angles - Password Detectives (ranking passwords and building a strong passphrase), Phishing Investigators (spotting the warning signs in a suspicious message), and Privacy Guardians (deciding what a fictional profile should hide, show, or ask consent for) - each verifying one AI-generated safety claim along the way.
The lesson closes with a personal Digital Shield, a lightning share, peer feedback, and an exit ticket. All scenarios are fictional - no student is ever asked for a real password, address or account detail.
