What happens in Task 8
A 5-minute Phase 5 - Creation activity. Students combine a confident phrase, a route symbol and a full direction message into a live-preview visitor card, then rate their own confidence that it would work for a real visitor.
π― Learning objectives
Apply the lesson's vocabulary and structure (starting point, viewpoint, landmark, polite question) to produce one clear, shareable direction message.
βΏ SEN Adaptations
- Voice recording option: record a spoken direction message instead of typing (30-second max)
- Symbol-only responses accepted - typing is optional for the phrase field
- Peer support: ask a partner to help choose symbols or proofread the message
π¨οΈ No-Tech Format
- Students create cards on index cards using markers and printed symbol cut-outs
- Phrase + symbol + message written by hand
- Cards kept for the gallery walk in Task 9
