🌈 Phase 2 - Encounter πŸŽ₯ Audio/Visual ⏱ 7 minutes

Task 2 - How We See Art?

Creates awe and emotional entry. Removes the pressure to "understand" - just look, and let it zoom in.

Step 1 - Watch in silence
No instructions Β· no commentary Β· no interruptions
Flowing abstract colours Β· contemporary digital art Β· a zoom into pixels
Step 2 - 60 seconds of silence
"Now… just think. Don't speak yet."
60
Silence = deep processing. Let a personal question form.
Step 3 - Zoom into digital art
What happens when we zoom in?
Bridge to Phase 3 - Investigation
"Let's start exploring how this actually works - as an Artist, a Digital Creator, and a Viewer."

What happens in Task 2

A 7-minute Phase 2 - Encounter activity. Students watch a second, deeper immersive visual, sit through another 60 seconds of silence, then interact with a zoom-in demonstration that shows a digital image breaking apart into coloured pixel squares - the Awe & Curiosity Wonder element.

🎯 Learning objectives

To deepen curiosity and awe before any explanation is given, and to plant the first seed of "images are made of tiny coloured units" that Group B will investigate in Phase 3.

β™Ώ SEN Adaptations
  • The zoom demonstration can be stepped through at any pace, with no timer
  • A breathing-style timer can replace the numeric silence countdown
πŸ–¨οΈ No-Tech Format
  • Teacher shows a printed, heavily zoomed-in photograph so students can see individual coloured dots
  • Students describe aloud what changes as the image is "zoomed in" further
