Bridge to Phase 2 - Encounter
Wonder begins when we notice that energy and mood have many connected causes. Let's follow this pupil through a whole school day.
What happens in Task 1
A 6-minute Phase 1 - Anticipation activity. Students silently observe six images from a fictional pupil's day, predict how the pupil might feel at three of those moments, reflect on which choice may help and which clue has more than one explanation, then answer an anonymous wonder-question poll.
π― Learning objectives
To create curiosity about wellbeing without defining it yet, and to help students notice that sleep, food, movement, thoughts and relationships can all change energy and mood across a day.
βΏ SEN Adaptations
- Illustrated vocabulary and a visual schedule available
- Voice or oral responses accepted for the pair-share prompts
- Quiet participation option - no pupil is ever required to disclose personal information
π¨οΈ No-Tech Format
- Teacher displays six printed images or describes the fictional pupil's day aloud
- Predictions and pair-share done verbally in pairs
- Poll taken by a show of hands, kept anonymous by asking students to close their eyes
