Activity 1 - All Different

Look around you. No one is exactly like you. Being different is not being better or worse - it is being unique. And, all together, we make something more beautiful.

Bridge to Activity 2
"We have seen that we are all different. Now we will learn to feel what the other feels."

What happens in Activity 1

A 15-minute Encounter activity. Learners choose identity cards across three categories (likes, abilities, ways of learning), choose how they want to share - word, gesture, card, or not at all - then watch their piece join a Class Mosaic alongside classmates' pieces.

๐ŸŽฏ Learning objectives

Recognise that all people are different - in appearance, tastes, abilities and ways of learning. Understand that difference is normal and enriches the group. Identify one of one's own characteristics and one of a classmate's, valuing both.

โ™ฟ Accessibility adaptations
  • Low vision: every card pairs a pictogram with a word (never image-only); use the "Read this page aloud" button in the toolbar for a full audio pass; the "High contrast" toggle sharpens borders and text.
  • Autism (ASD): a visual schedule (Discover โ†’ Show โ†’ Join โ†’ Discuss) is always visible above; the card set is fixed and predictable - choosing, never generating from scratch; sharing is never imposed.
  • Cognitive diversity: one instruction at a time, few cards per row, extended time - there is no timer on this activity at all.
๐Ÿ–จ๏ธ No-Tech Format
  • Paper cards, with pictogram and texture, for the learner to select and post
  • A paper wall in the classroom ("Class Mosaic"), with pieces of equal size
  • The teacher reads each card aloud and describes the mosaic as it grows
  • Sharing in pairs, by whisper, gesture, or by handing over the chosen card
