🛠️ Phase 3 - Investigation
🛠️ Workshop
⏱ 10 minutes
Task 6 - Group C: Engineer of Expression
Take the concepts and the critiques and build a prototype that solves the problem of digital survival. "We have built a bridge between the technology that watches us and the identity that defines us."
Step 1 - Choose a prototype to build
The Identity Shield
A wearable or digital "shield" that protects identity from AI surveillance while still expressing Beauty.
The Focus-First App UI
Redesign a social media interface to prioritise mental health over "clout" - no likes, no infinite scroll.
The Digital Time Capsule
A structure that ensures a specific identity survives for 100 years - a Metadata Map of 5 items.
Subversive Beauty Campaign
Glitch Art that celebrates a marginalised identity - the "error" itself becomes powerful.
Step 2 - Your creation · max 400 characters
Step 3 - Your design intention
Mandatory field
Explain how this design protects Mystery while still expressing Beauty.
✅ Saved to the class Survival Toolkit as "Group C - Engineer of Expression".
Bridge to Phase 4 - Discovery
"Each group examined this problem through a distinct lens: research, critique, creation. Now, re-examine the broader pattern - what is the one thing technology can never successfully capture about a human being?"
What happens in Task 6
A 10-minute Phase 3 - Investigation activity as "Group C - Engineer of Expression." Students choose one of four prototype challenges, describe or sketch their design (max 400 chars), then write a mandatory design-intention statement.
🎯 Learning objectives
Transform analytical understanding and critique into a physical or digital prototype that solves the problem of digital survival - balancing protection (Mystery) with self-expression (Beauty).
♿ SEN Adaptations
- Sketching / paper prototyping accepted as an alternative to typed description
- Voice input accepted for the design intention field
🖨️ No-Tech Format
- Paper, pencils and markers for sketching the prototype
- Oral presentation of the design instead of a typed description
