Task 4 - Case Studies: Four Stories, One Question
Choose one of four real-life situations. Then work through a structured analysis: what's happening, how people feel, which right is at stake, and what your group would propose.
What happens in Task 4
An 8-minute Phase 3 - Investigation activity. Students choose one of four real-life scenarios (a language barrier at school, a religious holiday in a shared calendar, a new student from another country, a community event mixing traditions - default selected: the new student scenario) and complete a 4-question structured analysis: the problem, the feelings involved, the right at stake, and a proposed solution.
🎯 Learning objectives
O2 - Identify examples of cultural diversity from Romania and Europe. O4 - Collaborate effectively in a group task. The four scenarios are designed to be discussed in small groups before each student records the group's answers.
📋 The four case studies
- A language barrier at school - a student struggles to follow lessons in a language they're still learning
- A religious holiday in a shared calendar - a school schedule doesn't account for a holiday important to some students
- A new student from another country - a recently arrived student is not yet included socially
- A community event mixing traditions - a neighbourhood festival brings together several cultural traditions at once
- Simplified-language toggle for case study text (toggled per student in teacher dashboard)
- Voice input available on all four analysis fields
- Extended time - no auto-advance, fields stay open until submitted
- Printed case study worksheet with the same four scenarios
- Students complete the structured table by hand in groups
