Lesson 10 Art · Visual Perception · Digital Creativity

How Do We See and Create Modern Art?

Two people look at the same artwork and see two different things - why? Watch colour and pixels come alive, investigate as an Artist, a Digital Creator, or a Viewer, then create and share an original artistic idea of your own.

Lesson overview
Students explore how contemporary art is perceived, created, and interpreted - investigating how artists use colour, form, digital media, and perception to express ideas. It begins with a silent immersive visual (abstract colour, a pixel zoom, a contemporary animation) and a wonder question: do we really see the world as it is, or do our eyes and brain help create it?

In the Investigation Lab, three groups explore art from different angles - the Artist (colour, composition, abstraction), the Digital Creator (pixels and the RGB system), and the Viewer (the emotional and psychological impact of art) - each checking one AI-generated idea for accuracy along the way.

The lesson closes with a personal reflection, a creative-wellbeing check on screen habits, group presentations, a class Wonder Map, and a summative quiz that includes a question on the responsible use of AI.
